After the release of our first DVD, The Truth About Salvation, we had a few people who could not play our discs. After doing some research we decided to switch to using the DVD-R Media over the DVD+R format. From our experiences, DVD-R seems to be more compatible with DVD Players than the DVD+R.

A more important thing we began to consider was the quality and grade of the DVD’s we were using purchase. I found that most disk purchased at the big office supply stores were of a lower grade and quality than what could be purchased from online suppliers. On top of that we found that ordering online from stores was less expensive per disk. We currently use the Taiyo Yuden Premium Line DVD-Rs. We get most of our supplies from www.supermediastore.com.

DVD Duplicators

Do you need a couple hundred disks to pass out for an outreach event. This can take a lot of time if your only burning 1 disk at a time. A DVD duplicator can triple your DVD burning output for about $250. Many DVD duplicators are stand-alone duplicators meaning NO Computer is required. Simply put in the DVD into the top disk tray, and insert your blank disks into the bottom trays and with the push of a button you can have multiple copies burning at one time. At Truth Apostolic, we use a 1 to 10 DVD Duplicator, which means we can burn 10 disks in about 15 minutes using the data verification feature.

Note: I always like to verify the data on the disk when burning. This confirms that the duplicate DVD matches the master copy. This feature is usually an option in your burning software (if using a computer) or on your DVD duplicator.

Disc Printing

You don’t have to buy an expensive disc printer to get great looking DVDs. We use 2 inexpensive ($79) Epson printers that have disc printing capabilities. They even come with disc printing software in the box. All that you have to buy are inkjet printable DVDs, create the label by importing the DVD disk image into the software, and print directly to the DVD.

NOTE: I don’t recommend using stick on labels because they can damage the DVD.
